Football can be a cruel game and rival fans can be even crueller when a team loses. No sooner had the final whistle blown at Wembley when the jokes at Man United's expense began.

It also emerged that a group of Liverpool fans had sneaked into the Barcelona end with a banner (pictured above) daubed with a well-known expletive (it rhymes with duck) followed by the name of Man United's manager, along with the legend '5 times' (a retaliation to Fergie's statement that he wished he'd been the guy who sneaked a '19 times' banner into Anfield earlier in May).

So, Man United fans may wish to look away now as we round up some of the gags already doing the rounds...

Giggs was anonymous the other day. He didn't do much in the Champions League final either.

Better send out a search party... the Man United midfield went missing during the Champions League final!

Barcelona took the Champions League final nets with them. They kept the ball all night too.

Reports have emerged that Barca fans sneaked into Old Trafford last night and unfurled a '19 times' banner, in reference to the amount of time Man United touched the ball in the Champions League final.

Sir Alex Ferguson, Gary Neville, Terry Christian, Eamonn Holmes, John Virgo, Mick Hucknall can you hear me? Mick Hucknall, can you hear me? Your boys took a hell of a beating!
