Lamborghini launches Gallardo for Malaysia

An Italian restaurant was the setting for a different "dish" today when Lamborghini launched a limited edition Gallardo for the Malaysian market.

Only 20 examples of the Lamborghini Gallardo MLE (Malaysia Limited Edition) have been built, each priced at RM1,680,000 (OTR excluding insurance).

The limited edition, unveiled at Ciao Ristorante here, promises to be distinct from the company’s usual line-up and is expected to be highly sought-after amongst local sports car enthusiasts and collectors.



The V10-powered Gallardo MLE is the result of a year-long collaboration between Lamborghini Kuala Lumpur and the principal, Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A.

Malaysia is among one of the few select countries in the world where Lamborghinis are selling well, which led to the impetus to create the Gallardo MLE.

Lamborghini Kuala Lumpur chairman Chut Nyak Isham Nyak Ariff said the limited edition came about following Malaysian customer requests for “a Gallardo that has the exciting exterior attributes of the Superleggera 570-4 but with the interior comforts of the standard Gallardo”.

The Gallardo MLE uniquely features the Superleggera’s external bodykit, comprising an aggressive front bumper, carbon side skirts, titanium exhaust tips and a carbon-fibre rear diffuser.

The interior is a bespoked comfort interior of half leather and half alcantara.

The rear-wheel drive MLE uses the highly regarded Gallardo LP550-2 as its base. The chassis setup was tuned to provide the driver with a more involving  driving experience and added agility due to the 30kg weight savings.

It uses a Lamborghini 5.2-litre V10 engine, which boasts a maximum 550bhp at 7,800rpm and peak torque of 510Nm at 6,500 rpm, with 80% of it already achieved at only 1500 rpm.

It can sprint from rest to 100kph in 3.9s and has a top speed of 320kph. The car is shod on Pirelli PZERO tyres (front 235/35 ZR19, rear 295/30 ZR19).

The 4.3m long MLE has a 43% front, 57% rear weight distribution, which Lamborghini said is ideal for a sports car, and optimised for traction, braking and handling.

Three body colours are available: solid white, pearl green and pearl orange.

All cars come with three years factory warranty.

According to Lamborghini, it has received three confirmed bookings for the MLE.
