James Rodriguez has begun to receive a great deal of attention of
late, attention that the player’s agent has done nothing to quell, which
must make FC Porto very angry. The 20 year old Colombian international
made a real splash last term, netting 12 goals in 22 league games as his
side overcame a resilient Benfica side to clinch the Portuguese title.

Brendan
Rodgers may well feel the need to improve on the players he currently
has in his armoury in regards to wide players. Though both Jordan
Henderson and Stewart Downing made it into Roy Hodgson’s England Euro
2012 squad, neither impressed last term and Rodriguez offers a very real
improvement and can play on either wing.
The speedy winger won’t
come cheap though and Man United are also in the running to snap up the
South American and a lot could depend on just how much Rodgers is handed
to invest in his squad. Given that Kenny Dalglish spent upwards of
£120m on new additions and saw Liverpool move further off the top four
pace it is possible that the Northern Irishman may have to work off a
reduced budget.
