
The former Bologna youth team player moved to Stamford Bridge as a 16 year old and spent four years at the West London club but failed to break into the first team. A loan spell at the Liberty Stadium saw the Italian net six goals in nine matches before he was sold to Parma and then immediately loaned out to co-owners Roma.
Last term the speedy forward netted 11 goals in Serie A and earned his spot in the senior Italian national team set-up.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will be all to aware of his side’s threadbare attack. The Merseyside club depends a great deal on Uruguayan Luis Suarez for both creativity and end product. Andy Carroll improved as last term worn on but is still some way from the finished article. The only other recognised forward the club possesses is veteran Craig Bellamy so there is a very real need to beef up on firepower this summer.
