Reports in Portugal say Liverpool FC are in pole position to sign Sporting Lisbon wonderkid William Carvalho, according to the Daily Star.
Carvalho, 22, is a powerful defensive midfielder who has been named in Portugal's 30-man provisional World Cup squad.
And despite interest from Manchester United, the Reds are reportedly ready to meet Sporting's £37.5m release clause.
Meanwhile, the Guardian claim Liverpool's pursuit of Adam Lallana will only be successful before the World Cup if the midfielder informs Southampton of his intention to leave St Mary's.
Lallana has been linked heavily with a £20m move to Anfield, although the Saints are said to be holding out for £25m.
But the 26-year-old may have to leave Southampton in no doubt over his intentions to seal the transfer swiftly.
In a more unlikely story, the Surrey Echo claim the Reds are monitoring Romelu Lukaku's progress at Chelsea.
The Belgian striker, who spent the season on loan at Everton, is reportedly interested in the 21-year-old.
And finally, French newspaper L'Equipe believes Hamburg midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu will stay at the Bundesliga club.
The talented 20-year-old, with 11 goals this season, has been linked with Liverpool recently.
