The Spaniard spent three years with giants Barcelona but found first team opportunities limited with the likes of Messi and Pedro offering too stiff a competition.
Despite impressing in his first season with the club, the Portuguese outfit are reportedly willing to cash-in and accept offers in the region of £15m.
The 25-year-old midfielder has impressed in Portugal with Benfica this season, scoring 8 goals in 22 games.
