According to news-sources, 73 percent of
bookings for the new Proton Preve are for the Premium variant. Chances
are that the Premium's popularity is due to it being the only variant
that carries Proton's new CFE (Charged Fuel Efficiency) engine, a 1.6
turbo-charged petrol that pumps out 138 horses and 205Nm of torque.
Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Mohamed Tahir, Proton Holding Bhd's managing
director, firmly believes that this is the case. He told reporters at a
media test drive last Wednesday that the public's strong demand for the
turbo variants was driven by their interest in performance cars. "We are
encouraged and confident that the Preve will change the landscape of
the Proton Brand domestically and overseas," he added.According to Syed Zainal, Proton has so far received 4,200 bookings for various variants of the Preve since bookings opened last month. "The bookings we received so far were in line with our targets of at least 4,200 per month."
