It seems unlikely Brendan Rodgers will pursue any move for Aly
Cissokho beyond the £9m stated, not least as there doesn’t seem a
pressing need to bring in a left back.
The24 year old Lyon man has
consistently been linked with a move to the Merseyside club and whilst
the French international is a very able performer one wonders why
Liverpool would continue to pursue the defender.
Though Liverpool
struggled last term and ended the Premier League season with their worst
top flight placing in over 50 years the root of that problem lay fairly
firmly on Kenny Dalglish’s sides inability to score goals rather than
any severe deficiencies at the back.
Given that one of the only
truly consistent performers last term was left back Jose Enrique, there
seems little need to pay over the odds for a player who plays in the
same spot as the Spaniard.
