It is priced from RM243,000 to RM249,000, distributor UMW Toyota Motor said in a press statement today.
Its website listed the car as "coming soon."
The hachi roku (86 in Japanese) is a 2+2 coupe and is the succesor to the highly regarded AE 86, which has been widely used around the world as a drift car contender.
The car is offered with a 6-speed sequential automatic transmission with paddle shifters and 6-speed manual.
Both versions are powered by 2.0-litre 16-valve twin cam DOHC Boxer engine featuring a direct and port fuel injection system, similar to the one found in the Lexus IS-F sedan.
The engine produces 197bhp at 7,000rpm and has maximum torque of 205Nm from 6,400 to 6,600rpm.
The auto can sprint from 0-100kph in 8.2s while the manual is a bit faster at 7.6s.
Top speed for the auto and manual are 210kph and 225kph respectively.
Wheels are shod on 215/45 R17 tyres.
Features include HID headlights, rear wheel drive with Torsen limited slip differential, electric power steering, seven airbags, ABS, traction control, stability control with sport mode and Alcantara leather seats,
Suspension is MacPherson struts with stabiliser in front, while the rear uses wishbone with stabiliser.
The 86 will be sold in a choice of six body colours: Lightning Red, Galaxy Blue Silica, Orange Metallic, Crystal Black Silica and Satin White Pearl, which is RM800 extra.
